ETC Group $150,000 in general support of efforts to promote the conservation of food crop germplasm and agricultural biodiversity, and to encourage the socially responsible development of new technologies. (Fiscal sponsor: Friends of Action Group on Erosion, Technology and Concentration) Federation of American Scientists $30,000 for their Project on Government Secrecy, which is dedicated to reducing government secrecy, promoting public access to government information, and challenging inappropriate barriers to such access. First Amendment Coalition $40,000 plus $20,000 in matching funds in general support of their work protecting free speech, pressing for a more open and accountable government, and encouraging public participation in civic affairs. Foundation Center $2,000 in general support of educational programs on foundation fundraising at the Center’s San Francisco office. Friends of the Earth US $50,000 for the Trade and the Environment Campaign, which calls attention to the environmental impacts of trade agreements and builds public support for economic policies that promote sustainable development, corporate accountability, and worker and human rights. Also $50,000 for the Emerging Technologies Campaign, which through public education and advocacy seeks regulation of nanotechnology, synthetic biology, and human genetic engineering. Global Exchange $30,000 for the California Rights Based Organizing Campaign to help communities assert local, democratic decision-making in the face of unwanted corporate actions. Government Accountability Project $85,000 in general support to protect the public interest and promote government and corporate accountability by advancing occupational free speech, defending whistleblowers, and empowering citizen activists. Institute for Food & Development Policy $45,425 for the Campesino a Campesino Pollinator Project to expand trainings in pollinator restoration and conservation to indigenous communities in four Mexican states.
