Program Officer
 
The CS Fund is seeking a full time program officer.

The position requires a talented generalist, able to work in several issue areas including but not limited to civil liberties and global justice. Program officers are expected to work in our office, located in rural Sonoma County, California.

Job Responsibilities
The program officer reports to the Executive Director. Job duties include:
• Review and evaluate proposals and undertake related research.
• Conduct site visits.
• Identify prospective grantees.
• Write funding recommendations for the board of directors.
• Assist with board meeting preparations, travel to and participate in board meetings (3 per year).
• Read grant reports, monitor and evaluate progress of grantees.

Qualifications and Attributes

• An understanding of progressive social change.
• Commitment to the foundation’s mission and goals.
• Experience in a nonprofit organization, a background in philanthropy or relevant academic credentials.
• A strategic thinker with intellectual curiosity, research and networking skills, and an exceptional ability to synthesize and analyze information.
• Able to take a flexible, multidisciplinary approach to grantmaking.
• Able to balance a high degree of initiative with the ability to work closely with a team.
• Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
